Some would say it’s about time. Today Governor Jared Polis and the Office of Information Technology(OIT) announced the launch of an innovative Colorado Digital Government Strategic Plan that will modernize and increase access to online state services to provide the best constituent experience in the country.

By putting Coloradans at the center of every decision, OIT says that it will collaborate with state partners to connect more residents to high-speed internet and digital government services, saving them time and money.
Hopefully, the transition will go smoother than the transition in the state’s unemployment insurance system a few years ago. Theoretically, it should be a boon to rural parts of the state, where reaching distant government services is a challenge.
“Colorado has long been a leader in providing modern digital solutions for our residents, such as the myColorado app and myVaccine Record,” said Colorado Chief Information Officer & OIT Executive Director Anthony Neal-Graves. “We must continue to meet the needs of Coloradans by thinking differently about the delivery of digital government services through equitable, accessible, and user-friendly technology.”
The state’s Digital Government Strategic Plan was informed by extensive research that identified what more than 2,000 Coloradans surveyed and interviewed have come to expect: modern, innovative, responsive, and digital government services. According to the study, Colorado ranks in the top 10 nationally for customer experience, but there is more work to be done.
The state will leverage the Strategic Plan’s recommendations to achieve three digital aspirations: 1) Connect all Coloradans to High-Speed Internet, 2) Expand Opportunity and Reduce Poverty, and 3) Make Government Easy.
