In their 9 a.m. July 17 meeting to be held in Buena Vista at 113 N. Court, Chaffee County Commissioners will consider becoming both the applicant and fiscal agent on application for two  Colorado Beautiful grants. The first Colorado Beautiful grant, if received, would fund the Stage and Rail Trail project. The second application would fund the Envision in Balance project.

In other agenda items, commissioners will hold three public hearings; one will be the final comment period for an ordinance that will restrict open fires and open burning in unincorporated portions of Chaffee County and establish penalties for violating the ordinance.

Two public hearings will address liquor licensing: the first, a malt beverage license (3.2 percent beer) for JV Food Shop in Johnson Village, the second, a special event permit to sell beer, wine and spirits at an Aug. 4 event at Frontier Ranch, off CR 321.

Commissioners will discuss letters of support for environmental projects in the county, including a letter supporting the Monarch Pass Forest and Watershed Health project. The agenda includes approval of the Tier I DOLA application for funding to help cover the cost of developing and rewriting the Chaffee County Comprehensive Plan.
