Three public hearings and a fee waiver request will fill the first hour of the Chaffee County Commissioner’s regular meeting beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, April 1, in the commissioner’s meeting room at 104 Crestone Ave. in Salida. Although commissioners plan an executive session on the Red Flag Bill, no public comments will be taken at this meeting on that issue.
Greater Arkansas River Nature Association will ask commissioners to consider a few waiver requests from the Chaffee County Landfill to place two 38-yard containers there for their annual spring cleanup event.
The first public hearing will focus on amended fee schedules for Planning and Zoning Department services, while the second public hearing will be for a special event fee waiver for the Salida Pole Peddle Paddle Race planned for April 14. A third hearing will consider a special event permit for the Tails on the Trails 5K Walk/Run, scheduled for May 19.
Commissioners will consider fee waiver requests from Habitat for Humanity. The nonprofit is ready to move ahead on its next home construction and the remodel of an existing home. The request is being made by Construction Manager Derrick Neikam.
Near the end of the public agenda, commissioners will take up the resolution approving Campout for a Cause, scheduled for May 31 through June 2, at the Meadows Farm.
Commissioners plan to adjourn to executive session, per the published agenda “to received legal advice on Colorado HB 19-1177 (the Red Flag Bill).” The agenda notes that they may take up discussion of this topic after the executive session, but that no public comments will be taken.
