Chaffee County Public Health (CCPH) has had a very generous local (and anonymous) donor offer around 100 $45 gift cards to Colorado Parks and Wildlife for Chaffee residents getting vaccinated over this summer. Starting today, Chaffee residents can begin to get shots at the CCPH mobile bus and walk-up clinics that make them eligible for these gift cards.

“This amount would get you a fishing license, or quite a discount on some various other passes and licenses including a parks pass, or hunting license,” according to CCPH Deputy Director Emily Anderson. “We will do drawings for these gift certificates over the summer at our various community clinics or at the vaccine bus.”

The upcoming vaccine dates are: (All these clinics are Pfizer and J&J)

The local incentives to step up and get vaccinated are growing.

Beyond this generous donation of CPW gift cards, CCPH has received free beverage vouchers to local breweries for anyone 21+ that gets fully vaccinated.

Walmart gift cards will be given out at the community center COVID-19 clinic on July 7, and three $100 gift cards have been donated by High Country Bank that will be given out at the July 7  Salida Middle School clinic.

In a huge gesture, Monarch Mountain has donated a free season pass to anyone fully vaccinated by July 31, and CCPH will draw that name beginning of August.

“I’d love to thank this donor [of the Colorado Parks and wildlife passes], and also promote this incredible incentive for some of the individuals who are still on the fence about vaccination,” said Anderson.  She noted that CCPH remains hopeful that the county can reach President Biden’s goal of 70 percent of residents with at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by July 4.

As the new and worrisome COVID-19 Delta variant is growing across the U.S., Colorado counties like Chaffee are getting worried that we won’t reach the 75 percent vaccination threshold to reach herd immunity against the coronavirus. Chaffee County currently sits at 61.4 percent of residents who have had at least one dose of vaccines.

Of course, the state of Colorado continues to automatically enter all fully-vaccinated individuals in what is called the Colorado Comeback Cash Vaccine Drawing, with the opportunity to win $1 million, for a total of $5 million in prizes given out. Each week, for five weeks, one winner will be selected, with winner announcements: June 4, June 11, June 18, June 25, and the final winner being announced on July 7.

Coloradans must be vaccinated by June 30 to qualify to win on July 7. This public health initiative is being hosted in partnership with the Colorado Department of Revenue (DOR), Colorado Lottery, and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE).
