Looking ahead to the weekend already? Here’s a fun outing, just two hours away from Salida that will still get you home by 11:00 p.m. after a night of great music. Grab some picnic fare enroute or arrive when gates open and line up for food and craft beer at the concert venue, starting at 5:00 p.m. in Crested Butte.
At 5:30 p.m. on Saturday August 6, the Crested Butte Music Festival (CBMF) offers an evening filled with bluegrass and country music, featuring the Tray Wellington Band and Jessica Lynn. Nestled in the beautiful setting of Crested Butte Mountain Resort’s base area, “Turn Up the Base” is FREE CONCERT on the Red Lady Stage.

Tray Wellington has been featured on several TV shows including an episode of David Holt’s “State of Music”, as well as a 2022 feature on Kamau Bell’s CNN show “United Shades of America”. Not yet 21 at the time, Trajan “Tray” Wellington won the 2019 International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Momentum Instrumentalist of the Year and 2019 IBMA Momentum Band of the Year awards.
The 5-string banjo player has studied and played traditional bluegrass and beyond with diverse genres such as jazz, progressive bluegrass, blues, and rock. The Tray Wellington Band currently features Wellington, Josiah Nelson, Nick Weitzenfeld, and Katelynn Lowe.
He’ll be appearing at Colorado’s favorite, RockyGrass in Lyons, CO July 29-31 before heading off on a four-state tour.
