Chaffee County Sheriff John Spezze removed the Decker Fire checkpoint on CR 108 at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21. The checkpoint has been in place to limit access to Methodist Estates and Boot Hill subdivisions. Its removal mean the area is now open for complete access to the residences.
Spezze asked that all residents who do not live in the area should refrain from driving into the area. The request is “because there are still fire personnel and vehicles traveling these roads and there is still a risk due to the recent fire activity,” according to a Spezze.
