The annual Chaffee County senior fair known as “Engaging in Aging” is set for 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 18 at the Chaffee County Fair Grounds; featuring dynamic educational workshops, fun activities, and a wide range of vendors for active seniors, their families, and their friends.

“We hope that all seniors and their loved ones save the date and join us for this memorable occasion. Over 400 people attended last year’s fair, and we are expecting many more this year,” said Chaffee County Public Health Registered Nurse Sandra Morgan. “There will be something for everyone of all ages at Embracing Aging. This event is an example of how Chaffee County has prioritized senior services and supports and how community partners can collaborate on behalf of our aging population.”

Two local non-profits that serve seniors, Ark Valley Helping Hands, dedicated to connecting neighbors to help seniors thrive, and Sage Generation, whose mission is to provide resources so that seniors can thrive in the living situation of their choice, are teaming up again to bring this special event to Chaffee County. The two are working in partnership with Chaffee County Public Health, Chaffee County Department of Human Services, Upper Arkansas Area Agency on Aging, and Partnerships for Community Action.

The primary organizers of the event are reaching out county wide for community support, including sponsorship support.

“This is the perfect opportunity for everybody in our community to get involved to celebrate aging. On behalf of the planning committee, I encourage you to become a sponsor, reserve a table, or host a workshop,” said Supervisor in senior services at Chaffee County Department of Human Services and Board President of Sage Generation Rachel Crocker. “This year’s event is sure to draw in even more champions from our senior community. Please join us for a day of fun, education, and connections!”

The event planning committee is encouraging community agencies, businesses, and members to consider sponsoring and contributing to Embracing Aging. Sponsorship levels include: Platinum ($4000), Gold ($2000), Silver ($1000), Bronze ($350). Another event support option is to have an informational table or provide a workshop. The cost per table is $100 for-profit and $25 non-profit. Funds raised from this event will help support local non-profits that serve seniors as well as future senior fairs.
