Studio Seed, the consultants hired by the City of Salida to help plan the South Ark Neighborhood project, will be hosting a final Open House starting at 5:30 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, August 30, at the Salida SteamPlant.
This is the last of a series of Open Houses that began at the end of January, focused on the community’s wishes for the development of the former Vandaveer Ranch property on the southeast edge of town. That kicked off a months-long process of gathering input from various stakeholders, including elected officials and housing advocates as well as the general public.
Tonight’s Open House is a chance for the public to weigh in on the final draft of the neighborhood plan, which will then go to the Salida Planning Commission (PC) and Salida City Council (SCC) for consideration and approval, starting in September.
Studio Seed presented two alternate final drafts at a joint work session of the SCC and PC on July 31, which differed slightly in terms of where the recreation areas and community buildings would be situated.
