On Sept. 27 and  28 Florence will host the biggest antique event of the year called the Junktique Antique Show and Market. The Junktique show had previously been a part of Florence’s Pioneer Days. But this year, organizers say it’s 10 times bigger with 200 booth spaces lined along Main Street for the two-day event.

“Somebody unfamiliar with Florence may pass it off as just another small Colorado town,” says an event recap from a Think Colorado press release.

“But those who’ve spent any time there not only fall in love with the town’s delectable charm, they also come away recognizing the incredible growth Florence is about to experience thanks to its title, “Colorado’s Antique Capital.”

“How did it get that title?

According to history books, Florence experienced a boom in the 1880s, thanks to the oil industry. But when the industry slowed, people moved away, leaving dozens of historic buildings untouched for decades.”
