In recognition of Men’s Health Month, Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center is offering free prostate exams at the HRRMC Outpatient Pavilion, 1000 Rush Drive, Salida from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday, June 17.

HRRMC says that no appointment is necessary and walk-ins are welcome to register for the free tests on the first floor of the Outpatient Pavilion. Dr. Bradford Moss, board-certified urologist will provide the screenings.

The American Cancer Society estimates more than 174,000 new cases of prostate cancer will be diagnosed this year and about 31,620 men will die from prostate cancer this year. Prostate cancer affects approximately one in nine men sometime during their lifetime.

“We encourage men over age 50—or age 40 if they have a family history of prostate cancer—to have an annual prostate screening,” said Moss. “Prevention and early detection is the key to living a long, healthy life.”
