On January 29, Governor Jared Polis announced that, beginning February 8, COVID-19 vaccine providers can start vaccinating anyone 65 and over as well as Colorado educators. Efforts to vaccinate those 70 and over who have not yet received a vaccine will still be given priority over the newly eligible recipients.

Fremont County Public Health (FCDPHE) Director Kayla Marler explained “with the announcement today, FCDPHE will continue to prioritize high-risk healthcare workers, first responders and individuals that are above 70 years of age. Governor Polis has tasked COVID-19 providers to have these individuals vaccinated by February 28th. At this time, we are on track in Fremont County to have this completed and not looking to get through our current wait-list of roughly 1,600 until the  beginning of March.”

Marler continued, “A huge barrier at this time is the amount of vaccine being allocated not only to the county but to the State of Colorado.”

FCDPHE is not collecting a waiting list of those who are 65 and over until February 8. All Fremont County COVID-19 providers continue to work with the Fremont County School District to combine waiting lists for school personnel.
