Fremont County Department of Public Health and Environment (FCDPHE) has compiled a list of COVID-19 Frequently Asked Questions and Answers. See the list below:

Is there a mask mandate still in place?

Yes, a state-wide mask mandate per Executive Order is in place until May 3, 2021. This has been put in place by Governor Polis. As May 3 approaches, Governor Polis will reevaluate the order and may possibly extend it .

What happens when the Mask Mandate Executive Order by Governor Polis expires, and it is not renewed?

On April 15, 2021 Colorado Department Public Health & Environment (CDPHE) adopted a Public Health Order (PHO 20-38) to be in place until May 15, 2021. Under the PHO, masks are to be worn in the following settings only;

  • Preschools through grade 12 (including extracurricular activities), childcare centers and services, and indoor children’s camps
  • Public areas of state government facilities, and areas in state government facilities where members of the public come into contact with state government employees
  • Congregate care facilities, including nursing facilities, assisted living residence, intermediate care facilities and group homes
  • Prisons
  • Jails
  • Emergency medical and other healthcare settings which includes hospitals, ambulance service centers, urgent care centers, non-ambulatory surgical structures, clinics, doctors’ offices, and non-urgent care medical structures
  • Personal services
  • Limited healthcare settings

Which Public Health Orders remain in effect?

  • Public Health Order 20-20 Requirements for Colorado Skilled Nursing Facilities, Assisted Living Residences, Intermediate Care Facilities, and Group Homes
  • Public Health Order 20-33 Laboratory Data Reporting for COVID-19
  • Public Health Order 20-37 Vaccine Access and Data Reporting for COVID-19

What does this order mean for business and government entities?

  • Strongly encouraged to provide reasonable work accommodations including under the ADA for individuals who cannot obtain access to COVID-19 vaccine or to aid those, who for medical or other legal reasons, cannot receive the vaccine
  • Face Coverings: All employers must implement the face covering requirements in Executive Order D 2020 138, as amended and extended, as applicable.
  • Strongly encouraged to follow the best practices for disease mitigation.

Do businesses have to continue to conduct health screenings on employees?

No. This is a best practice recommendation, however no longer in the PHO.

What are the requirements for Indoor Gatherings in Fremont County?

100 percent capacity, not to exceed 500 people.

What if the indoor gatherings are expected to be in excess of 500 people?
Venues may submit plans to their local public health department, with final approval to be given by Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE).

Do restaurants have to follow the indoor gathering restrictions?

No. Restaurants that have sit-down dining and do not have unseated areas where 100 or more people could gather (such as dance floors or common gathering areas) do not have to follow the indoor gathering requirements. Six feet of distancing is not required in restaurants.

Do retail services, places of worship and associated ceremonies in Fremont County have to follow indoor gathering restrictions?

No.

What do the indoor gathering requirements mean for school proms and graduations?

Exceeding the indoor gathering thresholds, school prom/graduation shall be subject to review by FCDPHE in accordance with CDPHE prom and graduation guidance. Outdoor events are recommended to follow outdoor event guidance, and if events are on school premises, masks are to be worn while the mask mandate through the Executive Order or PHO are in place.

Are face covering required for all individuals in a mass indoor gathering?

Yes. Except in the following circumstances:

  • Individuals 10 years old or younger,
  • Individuals who cannot medically tolerate a face covering, and
  • Individuals participating in one of the activities described in Section II.I of Executive Order D 2020 138, as amended and extended.

What are the requirements for outdoor events in Fremont County?
There are no capacity requirements at this time, unless the outdoor event is a ticketed, seated event in a venue that is 30,000 square feet or bigger which would then require CDPHE approval.

What does the new Public Health Order mean for Fremont County schools and child care?
Schools and child care shall follow the CDPHE guidance for Cases and Outbreaks in Schools and Child Care. Schools that are on remote learning, due to ongoing COVID-19 cases and outbreaks, shall not have in-person extracurricular activities.

Can additional county restrictions be put in place?
Yes, CDPHE may require counties to put additional restrictions in place if the hospitalizations threaten to exceed 85 percent of hospital or hospital system capacity. At this time, Fremont County foresees no further county restrictions.

After the state mask mandate has expired, are masks still required while utilizing a transportation service (bus, train, van, flights, Uber, etc.)

Yes. This is a federal mandate that has been put into place. Any time a person is being transported outside of their own vehicle whether for work or leisure activities, masks must be worn.

Are businesses required to provide social distancing within lobbies and waiting areas?
Although it is highly recommended, this regulation is no longer in the public health order.
