Fremont County moved to Level Blue: Caution, effective at 6:00 a.m. today, February 17. The Fremont County Department of Public Health and Environment (FCDPHE) along with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment made the decision to move the county in response to the decline in COVID-19 case rates, test positivity, and hospitalizations.

As of February 16, the county’s COVID-19 one-week cumulative incidence rate was 180.5 and the positivity rate is 2.6 percent with nine days of declining or stable hospitalizations.

“The lifting of restrictions by CDPHE is a result of the hard work Fremont County residents are doing to minimize the spread of COVID-19,”said Fremont County Public Health Director Kayla Marler.  “We need to remember that the pandemic is not over yet and continue practicing preventative measures such as wearing a mask, practice social distancing and frequent hand washing in order to get to the next level (Green), which is ‘Protect our Neighbors'” she added.

Fremont officials say they are aware of the burden that restrictions have placed on local business and the community. They say they appreciate everyone’s continued efforts and cooperation to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus. FCDPHE encourages anyone with questions to contact them at 719-276-7450 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday for more guidance and resources.
