Salida Trails Ecological Restoration Project (STERP) and the Greater Arkansas River Nature Association (GARNA) will host a trail restoration workday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25.

Those wanting to participate have been asked by STERP and GARNA to meet at the east end of the dirt parking lot next to the baseball fields at Marvin Park in Salida, located at 900 W. 1st St. Anyone who arrives past 10:15 a.m. should look to join the group on the trail behind the ball fields.

Participants are asked to bring work gloves, a hand trowel or shovel if it is available to them if not, STERP will have some tools provided for use. Participants have been asked also to bring water, sunscreen and to dress for the weather accordingly.

The restoration will take place behind the baseball fields at Marvin Park. Participants in the trail restoration workday will be mitigating erosion to stabilize the hillside between the river and trail by planting native species.

Participants can sign up for the event by visiting www.forms.gle/Tx1ZzoLocZoYGesU8 or by emailing info@garna.org.
