An Aug. 23 dinner and auction fundraiser has been announced to benefit “Haven for Hope”, an event put on by BV HOpe, a local 501(c)(3)’s response to the need for safe and restorative housing for survivors of human trafficking. The event is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. Aug. 23 at Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort Pavilion.

According to the Director of both Haven for Hope and BV Hope Beth Ritchie, the event is focused on the special needs necessary to make a full recovery from the trauma of being trafficked.  “Survivors need a safe place to recover from physical and mental wounds, support to instill confidence, and exposure to educational and employment opportunities so they can get back on their feet and gain independence,” her message read.

The event’s goal is to raise funds for a future sanctuary home in this area for adult women who are human trafficking survivors. The hope is to make it a reality in two years, with the model for this sanctuary the Thistle Farms restoration homes. According to Ritchie, there is a waiting list for restorative housing in Colorado.
