The spring production by the hard-working Salida High School Drama Team is nearly ready for opening night. The spring production of The 25th Annual Putnum County Spelling Bee ( a musical) is scheduled for a three-day run on March 4, 5, and 6.

With music and lyrics by William Finn Book by Rachel Sheinkin, the show’s Director Devon Kasper says that the production is most appropriate for kids 12 and older.

The show, which was a 2005 Broadway production, centers on a fictional spelling bee set in a geographically ambiguous Putnam Valley Middle School.

All the main characters are a bit quirky; including the six adolescents competing in the Bee, which is run by three equally quirky grown-ups.

Kasper is joined by Musical Director André Wilkins and assisted by Assistant Director Cat Schleicher

The Friday, March 4, and Saturday, March 5 shows will begin at 7:00 p.m. and the Sunday, March 6 matinee will begin at 2:00 p.m.

Tickets are available by going to GoFan.co and they are $5 for adults and $4 for students.
