Statewide primary election results as of 3:00 a.m. July 1 show that John Hickenlooper bested Andrew Romanoff to face incumbent Senator Cory Gardner in the November elections.

John Hickenlooper       59.54%          525,716

Andrew Romanoff        40.46%          357,311

Total votes cast for Senator Cory Gardner, running unopposed for the Republican slot: 524,678.

Voter turnout across the state was 41.4 percent, with 1,451,905 votes cast. A few counties have still not reported, meaning the total votes for candidates will change slightly, but will not affect results.

Chaffee County, with 100 percent of the votes in, mirrored the state Democratic party results, with Hickenlooper getting the nod to challenge Gardner in November:

John Hickenlooper       62.32%          2,654 votes

Andrew Romanoff         37.68%          1,605 votes

Total votes cast for Democratic candidates were 4,269.

Cory Gardner garnered  2,617 votes in Chaffee County.
