‘Tis the season, and this year, after two years of pandemic worry, retailers and crafters are setting up holiday markets in two places across the county; both in Buena Vista and Salida. Community members can shop locally this fall and winter season. Both markets offer handmade art, crafts, textiles, jams pickled items, baked goods, jewelry, and more.

Attending the markets is free. This is your opportunity to shop local this year and support small businesses in the community.

The Buena Vista Holiday Makers Market

The BV Holiday Makers Markets are running Saturdays; Dec. 10,  Dec. 17, and Feb. 12 ( Valentine’s Day themed market ). They are open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at The Loft Theater 413 Main Street.

The markets feature a rotating selection of local artists,  bakers, makers, and farmers. This year Tim Tognacci Photography is also offering a mini holiday photo session.  Bring the family and pets in for a 10-minute photo session and receive five edited images for $50.

The Salida Makers Markets

The Holiday Makers Market is scheduled in Salida for Friday, Dec. 2, 9, 16, and 23 at The Scout Hut in Riverside Park. Each week the market runs from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and features a different rotation of local artists,  bakers,  makers, and farmers plus food and specialty hot beverages.

The Salida markets also feature workshops and demos. One such unique experience — a needle felting gnomes workshop coming up at 11:30 a.m. on December 2. The workshop is hosted by Pink from Friggs Fibers and the cost is $20, which includes supplies.

The Salida market is off during January and returns Feb. 12th for the Valentine’s Day-themed market and then runs every other Saturday through May!

Community members can shop locally this fall and winter season. Both markets offer handmade art, crafts, textiles, jams pickled items, baked goods, jewelry, and more.
