Ark Valley Voice is halfway through the month of December and our all-important 2022 NewsMatch Challenge. This morning we stand at $10,000 in 100 percent tax-deductible donations made by members of our community and fellow for-profit businesses.
This means we are two-thirds of the way to our goal: If we can raise $15,000 in community donations by December 31, 2022 — the Institute for Nonprofit News will match that amount.
Our gratitude for our community of readers – both here in the Central Colorado Rockies and in our Chaffee County “home” and beyond is enormous. Your faith in us, and your expectations of fact-based news coverage rooted in the voices of truth keep us going.
The fact is — donating to a nonprofit news organization makes readers our partners in fact-based news. And that is a good thing for a community. There are many days when we feel as if we are doing combat against the growing threats of misinformation and disinformation on social media and from organizations that attempt to distort our reality.
Facts aren’t always what you want to hear — but that is our job. We look for answers. We ask why — and why not. We don’t endorse candidates. When there actually is more than one side to an issue — we explore it.
As AVV Senior Reporter and member of the Editorial Board Dan Smith recently wrote — “journalists do our part to keep this a free and democratic society.”
As members of the Colorado Press Association, the Colorado News Collaborative, and the Institute for Nonprofit News — Ark Valley Voice serves this as a community as well as the state.
Being a free, nonprofit, fact-based local news provider publishing six-days-a-week requires the support of the community, and all donations go to support AVV journalists. If you believe in what we do, to whatever extent you are able, we sincerely ask you to consider a contribution to AVV.
You can donate by December 31, 2022 in one of two ways:
