Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center is hosting its Health Fair from 7 a.m. to 12 noon, on Saturday, June 1. Attendees may also stop by HRRMC’s new Outpatient Pavilion to enjoy the facility’s grand-opening.

The health event will feature free health screenings and low-cost blood tests for those 18 and older. Community vendors will also be present during the fair; including Chaffee County Public Health, Heart of the Rockies Home Health and Hospice, Women’s Wellness Connection, REACH Air Medical Services, Premier Home Care, Ark Valley Helping Hands and HRRMC.

HRRMC plans to offer a variety of cost-effective blood tests during the fair. Including blood chemistry ($35), blood count ($20), B12/folate profile ($35), hemoglobin A1c ($30), PSA ($30), testosterone ($45) and vitamin D ($45).

The staff at HRRMC reminds those planning to take a blood test that a 12 hour fast is recommended prior to taking a blood-draw test. Diabetic individuals should not fast. Drink plenty of water prior to having a blood test, and take all of your usual medications.

The free health screenings offered during the event include blood pressure, body in balance, body composition, cardiopulmonary, height/weight (BMI), nutrition, oral health and skin.

Those wishing to take low-cost tests are encouraged to preregister prior to arriving. To do so, visit HRRMC Salida Campus front desk or go to www.hrrmc.com/Health-Fair. Though preregistration is not required, doing so will save attendees the time of registering at the fair.

The medical center says it encourages all testing participants to make an appointment with their primary care provider to interpret any test results. Any additional questions can be directed to HRRMC by going to www.hrrmc.com or calling 719-530-2057.
