Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center has announced the start of an Outpatient Nutrition Program designed to improve patients’ nutritional status. “Nutrition affects all parts of the body.
“The body does not work as well if one is not well nourished,” said Dietary Manager Devon Moughan-Phillips, a registered dietitian nutritionist.
Under the HRRMC Outpatient Nutrition Program, which requires a referral, a nutritionist will meet with patients individually to focus on issues like heart disease, diabetes, malnutrition, digestive issues, weight loss and/or preparing for weight-loss surgery or other nutritional issues.
After a 30 to 60-minute initial consultation and follow-up appointments, the HRRMC Nutrition Program will instruct on meal planning, portion control, reading labels and making healthier food choices.
Some insurance companies, depending on the diagnosis, will cover the consultation and appointments. Cash payment is also available at a rate of $50 for 30 minutes and $70 for 60 minutes. Those interested in more information, can call 719-530-2293.
