The Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center (HRRMC) and its auxiliary clinics were locked down at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 11. A Buena Vista man allegedly made threats to the First Street Family Health Clinic after being dissatisfied with the service he previously received. The campus was locked down for safety and Salida Police left an officer to stand guard during the lockdown.

According to Allison Gergley, Director of Marketing and Public Relations at HRRMC, the hospital and its clinics were locked down for approximately an hour, during which time no one was allowed to enter or leave.

Russ Johnson, Salida Police Chief, said the incident was resolved. “Officers located the man in Buena Vista and opened the campus back up after officers contacted the individual in-person.” said Johnson.  The individual is currently being detained by police and is under evaluation by Solvista Health.
