Reputation as “Bone Yard” Growing
Late Friday, July 28, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sent out a release on behalf of the Saguache County Sheriff’s Office, telling the public that the Saguache County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying human remains found this week. This is not the first time that unidentified human remains have turned up in Saguache County, prompting some to reference it as a “bone yard”.

While conducting searches for missing woman Edna Quintana on July 26, law enforcement discovered skeletal remains in the foothills west of Saguache Peak off County Road 46AA.
The remains are believed to be that of a male, approximately 5 foot 9 inches tall, with a pants size of 36Wx30L. It does not appear to have any connection to Quintana’s disappearance.
Two possibly unique items were found with the remains: a metal cross and badly deteriorating, cordovan-colored Florsheim dress shoes. Saguache County is not a place where most people regularly wear such dress shoes.
Quintana is still missing and the sheriff’s office is continuing to search for her.
