Written public comment on the 1041 Permit Conditions for BlueTriton Brands will be accepted through July 27 before final deliberations begin August 3
The Chaffee County Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) is now in the deliberation phase for the BlueTriton Brands 1041 permit, which will establish the conditions for groundwater well-pumping operations at the Ruby Mountain Springs site along the Arkansas River. The BoCC, convened as the 1041 Permit Authority, voted 2-1 at its July 6 meeting to extend the permit for Blue Triton Brands (formerly Nestlé Waters North America) through September 2029, following 21 months of public hearing.
The draft permit is available on the County website at www.chaffeecounty.org/EndUserFiles/73135.pdf. It will be presented by the Chaffee County legal department for initial review beginning at 1:00 p.m. July 20 during the BoCC meeting.
The BoCC permit extension hearing has concluded, so in its role acting as the 1041 Permit Authority, it can no longer accept public comment.
Interested members of the public can provide feedback on the permit, via email directly to the County’s legal department at firstname.lastname@example.org by close of business on July 27. While public feedback may be considered, the final permit conditions will be determined by the 1041 Permit Authority.
The 1041 Permit Authority is expected to conclude deliberations on the BlueTriton Brands permit extension at a public meeting on August 3 before making a determination on the final permit conditions.
Members of the public may join the July 20 meeting virtually on zoom at https://zoom.us/j/109079543 or by calling 1-669-900-6833 and entering meeting ID # 109 079 543.
Limited space, based on meeting room capacity will also be available for in-person attendance at the County Courthouse at 104 Crestone, Salida in the BoCC Meeting Room.
