With cases surging all over the county and the United States experiencing its highest daily death toll on December 2, residents of Lake County are being told that they must continue to follow social distancing guidelines and mask wearing. The current positivity rate in Lake county is 19.4 percent which is much higher than the state positivity rate of 11.63 percent. On December 2, Lake County reported 29 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 305 positive cases. The new cases are active infections and associated with general community and household-based spread.

Lake County now has access to rapid testing and Lake County Public Health (LCPH) predicts a rise in positive cases. A third of the new cases were confirmed through rapid test administration. There are currently 44 cases being monitored and all others are considered recovered. 4,002 tests have been performed as of December 2 with 2,975 being PCR-type and 1,027 being antibody-type.
