There are only a few days left to take the Chaffee Wildfire Survey, The link will close at the end-of-the-day, Sunday, March 3. Those who haven’t yet taken the survey are encouraged to go to ChaffeeCountyFire.org. The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete.

Survey responses will help inform the county’s Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP), which establishes recommendations that protect citizens, homes and essential infrastructure from the destruction of a large wildfire. In fact, survey participants will actually help determine the use of Chaffee Common Ground funding earmarked to strengthen forest health.

The goal of the survey is to help gauge public perceptions about forest health and treatment activities such as controlled burns and tree thinning. It will also create a picture of community priorities as forest agencies develop management projects to meet the goals of the CWPP.

The survey is administered by the Envision Chaffee County Fire and Healthy Landscapes Partnership. The focus is on transparency, so the community is involved in wildfire planning. The partnership includes the United States Forest Service Salida Ranger District, the Bureau of Land Management and Colorado State Forest Service, as well as local fire districts and the Chaffee County Office of Emergency Management.
