Leadville’s 73rd annual skijoring competition is still on for this weekend, and spectators can tune in to live streaming via Facebook Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 3:00 p.m.
The usually well-attended winter event features a horse and rider blazing down a snow-packed street (Harrison Avenue in past years) with a skier in tow. The skier flies over jumps and spears rings set along the course. This year, skijoring will be held in a new location west of downtown. The 2021 event will feature the open and sport divisions only. No spectators are allowed at the race course due to COVID-19 precautions.
Event organizers are already promoting the 2022 competition, which is planned to be in-person March 5 and 6, 2022. For more info, visit leadvilletwinlakes.com.
