The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Chaffee County will offer a free two-hour Mental Health Crisis Planning Workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21 in the Salida Methodist Church located at 228 E 4th St.
A press release provided by NAMI, explained that “No one wants to worry about the possibility of a crisis, but they do happen. That doesn’t mean you have to feel powerless.”
Participants in this two-hour workshop will learn about the causes of a mental health crisis, and steps to take. NAMI Chaffee County explains that “participants will come away with a better understanding of de-escalation techniques, communication and advocacy skills, community resources, problem-solving and crisis prevention, as well as how to create a crisis plan.”
NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI Chaffee County is an affiliate of NAMI Colorado.
