The Monarch Ski Bus provided by Salida Recreation and Monarch Mountain will resume service tomorrow January 24. It will run on Fridays and Saturdays only for the 2020 Ski and Ride Season through March 14.

All buses leave at 8:30 a.m. from the Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center located at 410 West Hwy 50. The buses leave Monarch Mountain at 3:30 p.m. The cost is only $5, which also applies to one-way rides.

Before riding the Ski and Ride, each rider is required to sign a Salida Recreation Liability Waiver and a Monarch Mountain Liability Waiver for the 2020 season. Both waivers are available at the Hot Springs Aquatic Center.

Persons looking to ride who are under the age of 18, need to have their parents sign a waiver prior to the bus departure time. The Salida Recreation Department asks that the community be aware that the kids will be on their own once the bus arrives at the mountain, and must be able to handle the responsibility of taking care of themselves at the mountain and getting back on the bus by 3:30 p.m. All ages are welcome, but children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

To ensure a ride, reservations can be made in person with payment at the Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center, or with a credit card over the phone before the date riders would like to ride. Without a reservation, riders will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. The bus needs a minimum of five riders to depart.

Those looking for more information have been encouraged by Salida Recreation to contact the front desk by calling (719) 539-6738. More information on the Ski and Ride can be found at  https://salidarec.com/ski/.
