The next date that Chaffee County locals can purchase fresh, healthy produce and support local farmers and artisans at the Winter Farmers’ Market will be Dec. 22. The Winter Markets are hosted by the Foodshed Alliance at the Scout Hut in Salida’s Riverside Park, running from 9:00 a.m. Until 1:00 p.m.

The Winter Markets concept debuted on Saturday, December 8: set up as a weekly event in the recently renovated Scout Hut, 210 E. Sackett Ave., on the banks of the Arkansas River at Salida’s River Park. This will be the last market day prior to Christmas, so those looking to pick up gifts and fresh produce may want ot mark their calendars.

The six-week schedule debuted to much local enthusiasm. The remaining dates for the winter market are: December 22, January 12, January 26, February 9, and February 23.

Vendors include local farms, as well as farms within a 100 mile radius of Chaffee County. The market will also feature local and non-local artisans providing a range of hand-crafted wares.

Foodshed Alliance was founded in 2007, and is dedicated to the provision of healthy, accessible produce sourced from local families and organizations. During the summer seasons, Foodshed Alliance organizes markets in both Salida and Buena Vista.
