Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday in Colorado — a day set aside just for Coloradans to support a cause close to your heart and mind. Many of the local nonprofits work with and through the Chaffee County Community Foundation, which acts as a fiscal sponsor for the important work of many small 501(c)(3) nonprofits.

There are many ways to support the nonprofits of your choice — by volunteering, by simply saying “thank you” to the community organizations that mean so much to you — or with financial support through a tax-deductible contribution. On Tuesday, November 29, think about this as your giving season in support of the values you care about the most.

Readers can visit and make a Giving Tuesday donation to their favorite local nonprofit organizations doing great work here in our own community

Colorado’s special day of giving comes exactly one week later — it’s known as Colorado Gives Day. Join thousands of other Coloradans as we come together to strengthen our community’s nonprofits.

Ark Valley Voice is also in a very important giving season called a “NewsMatch Challenge”. If we raise $15,000 in community donations between November 15 and December 31, 2022, that amount will be matched by the foundations behind the Institute for Nonprofit News, of which Ark Valley Voice is now a full member. That doubles every donation, making it twice as important. That NewsMatch means that your $6.00 monthly give becomes a $12 monthly gift. A $50 one-time donation is doubled to $100.

When you strengthen journalism, you strengthen democracy. When you support local nonprofits — you’re using your values to support your local community.
