Two items are on the agenda for the Poncha Springs Planning and Zoning Commission meeting set for 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 14, at the Poncha Springs Town Hall. One is a review of the conceptual plan for the remodel of the Poncha Springs Visitor’s Center and a variance request for an outbuilding/garage setback for a residence in the Monarch’s Crossing development.
According to the memo put forward by Town Administrator Brian Berger, the first major point that the Planning and Zoning committee will be considering with regard to the Visitor’s Center plan is a final determination on the size and location of the space dedicated to the proposed Veterans Memorial. The flag poles for the memorial, approved by the Chaffee County Commissioners at a February meeting, have arrived, so the Veterans Memorial will be the first part of the redesign. It is scheduled for completion this calendar year. The Planning and Zoning Commission will use this meeting not only to review the conceptual plan and suggest changes, but also to decide on which parts of the plan besides the Veterans Memorial will be laid out first.
Other parts of the conceptual plan include both short-term and long-term parking, with open space proposed between the two areas, and also a dog park.
The town hall meeting is held at 333 Burnett Ave. in Poncha Springs and is open to the public. For more information, contact Berger at 719-539-6882.
