A Saturday morning power outage at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center affected the facility’s phone service and computer systems, but officials managed a workaround to maintain services. Phone system and computer services were restored by 12:30 p.m., and since that time officials said calls are going through to the hospital phones, including the main number, 719-530-2200.

The power outage was apparently caused by repairs performed on an electrical switch. Officials said downtime procedures were implemented to continue essential patient care services during the outage. Emergency phones and radios were issued to various hospital departments to enable communications during the outage.

Following electrical repairs, HRRMC’s Information Systems and Plant Operations department staff worked to restore the impacted systems.

A gastrointestinal clinic at the Specialty Clinic was postponed but all other patient care areas remained operational, officials said, including the walk-in clinic at the hospital’s Buena Vista Health Center.
