Colorado State Patrol’s (CSP) Chief Matthew Packard has announced that a team from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) will be assessing the Colorado State Patrol from November 29 – December 1, 2021.   The assessments will examine all aspects of the agency’s policies, procedures, management, operations, and all support services.  Due to precautions surrounding COVID-19, the site-based assessments will be conducted virtually this year.

Members of the Colorado State Patrol assisted Colorado Public Health at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds during mobile testing in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Colorado State Patrol is a TRI-ARC accredited agency, holding accreditation in Law Enforcement, Training Academy, and Communications.  All three assessments will be occurring concurrently.

Verification by the assessment teams means the Colorado State Patrol meets the Commission’s standards of professionalism.

Being accredited is a voluntary process, but is a valued recognition of the law enforcement agency’s level of professional excellence.

The Assessment Team will be taking comments from individuals, agency employees, and the public. All are invited to call and offer comments  between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. MST on Monday, November 29.

The session will be held at the Golden Community Center located at 1470 10th St. Golden, CO 80401 and via Google Meet: https://meet.google.com/jfm-qkdb-ect for those unable to attend in person.

Telephone comments as well as appearances at the public information session are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA’s standards.
