It appears that sooner than most of us might like, the political season is upon us. An announcement today from Colorado Republican Chair Dave Williams has announced that the two main speakers at an event in Pueblo this weekend hosted by the Pueblo County Republican Party will be no other than — wait for it — Donald Trump Jr. and Colorado Representative Lauren Boebert.

The GOP Freedom Fest will be held at the PB&T Tent at the Colorado State Fairgrounds in Pueblo, Colorado from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday, July 8.

Trump, Jr. as a keynote speaker is apparently a change in plans. Also featured is filmmaker, radio host, and self-described “champion for parental rights,” Deborah Flora, who just happens to be the founder of the group Parents United America that proudly claims many of the cultural attacks on public schools.

Also speaking will be Colorado CD3 Board of Education member Stephen Varela. He has so far survived a groundswell of opposition requesting his resignation due to controversial board leadership and policies including more egregious efforts to ban books as well as control what teachers are allowed to teach.
