Colorado’s premier bluegrass outfit Rapidgrass will be returning to Buena Vista this Sunday, Sept. 1 to give the Seven Peaks Music Festival an extra dose of pickin.

Hitting the Whiskey Row Stage (presented by Dish) at 2:55 p.m. on Sunday, Rapidgrass is the perfect daytime band to kick the cobwebs off your dancing shoes. Popular purveyors of Newgrass, Rapidgrass has made a name for themselves throughout the Arkansas Valley and the state of Colorado for their unabashed embracing of the evolution of modern progressive bluegrass.

Refusing to be constrained to one genre, Rapidgrass melds traditional bluegrass with gypsy rock, pop, swing, world rhythms and even classical styles. Blending mountain music styles from countries like Italy, Tibet, Argentina, Ireland and Russia have resulted in an authentic roots experience you can only find high in the Rockies.

“Rapidgrass embodies the notion that nature, and particularly mountains, can bring out the best in our art, and we have dedicated much of our creative energy into bringing that art back to the people of the mountains. Our music is motivated by and made for those who find peace in the mountains,” explained the band’s official website.

Rapidgrass consists of Mark Morris (lead vocals/guitar), Charlie Parker Mertens (upright bass), Alex Johnstone (mandolin/vocals), Coleman Smith (violin), and the occasional addition of dobro master Billy Cardine.

No stranger to Buena Vista, Rapidgrass has become one of the most beloved acts in the Valley and one of the most fascinating bluegrass outfits in Colorado. In addition to their rigorous touring schedule, Rapidgrass holds their own music festival in the Valley celebrating bluegrass and music in the mountains every year around the end of June.

Rapidgrass is the personification of high-altitude Colorado Newgrass and the perfect Sunday band to round out your Seven Peaks Music Festival.
