As of Friday morning, January 12, the company hired to do the repair work on the Granite Bride, Native Sun Construction has diverted water to the west side of the river and is currently working on rehabilitation of the east side abutment.

Crews are working on the installation of a soil nail (steel rod) and pressure grout, which will firm up the soil around the foundation of the bridge, thus rehabilitating it.

This work is expected to be complete by late January, at which time a second cofferdam will be installed to divert water to the east side, enabling abutment rehabilitation on the west side of the river.

The river will be restricted to nine feet, but will be passable by boat traffic. Vehicle traffic over the bridge will not be impacted.

Although work has been slow due to weather, the Native Sun construction team says that the project continues to be on schedule, and they expect it to remain so.
