The 26th annual Salida Art Walk kicked off Thursday night and continues through Sunday, June 24. The town’s numerous galleries, restaurants and other businesses will feature installations by visual artists and performances of all varieties, from music acts to circus acts.

Art on the Rocks, a wine-glass painting event sponsored by High Country Bank, launched the festivities at the SteamPlant Event Center. Friday’s special events include Dining Out with Art Walk, which features Chaffee County chefs, caterers, brewers, vintners and distillers creating dishes and cocktails inspired by area artists from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. at participating venues.

The popular Mini-Masterpiece Auction happens Friday and Saturday at the SteamPlant. Regional artists donated small pieces that will are on display and will be sold to benefit of the festival.

Artist receptions will be held at galleries, artist studios and businesses in downtown from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 23. Many will feature refreshments and musical performances.

Art Walk will wrap up with a free performance by the Colorado Mountain College Big Band from 7 to 9 p.m. at the SteamPlant. The jazz band will perform compositions and arrangements by the likes of Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman.
