The 29th Annual Salida Art Walk is returning this year and is scheduled to take place from June 25 through June 27. This event celebrates the local art scene and hosts art galleries and temporary pop-up galleries.
The event will be chaired by Leslie Jorgensen of Leslie Jorgensen Fine Art. “We made the tough decision to cancel Art Walk last year due to COVID concerns. With the rollout of vaccines underway now, we are hopeful that this summer will see a positive trend toward controlling the pandemic and a gradual return to normal,” said Jorgensen.
“But we still have an eye toward safety, so rather than widespread advertising to attract out-of-town audiences,” she continued. “We’ll scale back to a simpler event focused on celebrating our local art community and the simple joy of getting out to galleries and restaurants this summer.”
Currently, the Art Walk board is looking for businesses that are in the Salida Creative District to host an artist or artists for the weekend. Businesses will get a page on their website. Artists can sign up to have their work displayed on the Art Walk site too. Businesses are also encouraged to stay open late that weekend.
The event is free to participate in and the deadline for businesses to sign up is May 16. Click here to sign up.
