The 122 grants totaling $907,000 were awarded in 28 counties across the state. These grants benefit both small and large communities, with 38  percent of grant funds awarded in communities located outside the Denver metro area.

The Salida Circus Outreach Foundation was the only Chaffee County nonprofit to receive a grant, receiving $6,500 for its community outreach programming.

‘Colorado Creates’ is CCI’s oldest grant program, providing critical financial support that helps nonprofit cultural organizations and government agencies produce and present arts and cultural activities, bringing jobs to their communities and enhancing the quality of life.

CCI has implemented an extended 21-month grant cycle for the Colorado Creates program, allowing funded organizations to receive a second round of funds by submitting a mid-cycle report.

Grants are awarded on a competitive basis and provide a seal of excellence that helps organizations leverage local and national funds. The next application deadline for Colorado Creates is June 6, 2022.

“Colorado is experiencing healthy growth post-pandemic, thanks to the influx of funds being allocated across the state’s creative economy,” said Director of Colorado Creative Industries Margaret Hunt. “We admire the strength and dedication of these hard-working individuals and groups who stayed committed through one of the hardest years our economy has faced. Arts contribute significantly to our well-being and sense of community, and we are proud to continue supporting their work with the Colorado Creates grant.”
