Due to the coronavirus pandemic known as COVID-19, all the circus tutors have been doing online tutoring as previously reported in the Ark Valley Voice. When the recent update of the “Safer-at-Home” orders, the team agreed there was a safe, responsible way to return to in-person classes.

Salida Circus says that it is trying to be sensitive to what that will look like. Their outdoor training site in Pinon Hills with a trapeze rig and mats will be utilized by four kids at a time.

“We’re cautiously optimistic, but safety first. It makes us all be more creative.” Jennifer Dempsey told Ark Valley Voice.

The team will practice social distancing with the option of wearing masks. Dempsey said “We’re going to give a lot of choice and responsibilities to the individual families. People will have a lot of choice in how they want to proceed with training.”

“The show will go on, the show must go on ” Dempsey added.

Salida Circus will be putting on their May Day show on Sunday, May 3 at 6 p.m. in honor of International Workers Day, to celebrate essential workers. Watch via Salida Circus Outreach Foundation’s Facebook page.
