After a long break from in-person classes, the Salida Circus feels it is safe enough now to begin offering them once again.

Salida Circus went completely online due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the summer of 2020. The Circus is hosting a virtual Saint Patrick’s Day Extravaganza at 6:00 p.m. on March 17.

The event will feature those who have been participating in online training over the past months as well as in-person workshops. The show will also include international acts and greetings from around the world. To watch the event, click here.

Salida Circus’ Joe Lobeck and Lexee Barrera will be offering tumbling and ground circus skills classes for all ages. The classes will be located at 547 Jones Avenue in Salida. For more information or to sign up for classes contact Joe at 719-650-3902.

In the spring, Salida Circus will host more in-person classes which they are currently in the process of organizing. Currently, they are holding workshops at the Salida Business Hub and a Juggling Jam workshop at Ramps and Alleys.

Laura Hart will be offering aerial classes in Buena Vista with some classes held at the gymnastics club and others on County Road 358. Those interested or having further questions are asked to contact Hart at 970-903-7066.

Salida Circus is still offering online training for free. Contact jennsalidacircus@gmail.com for more information. The Circus is also still offering drive-by Birthday Parties to allow for fun and socially distanced performances.

“Eventually when allowed, we will resume at Boys and Girls Club,” said Director Jennifer Dempsey. She is currently in the process of working out when the circus can host a summer camp.

“Chaffee County continues to have lots of Circus Spirit and support us which I am very grateful for. We wouldn’t be here without all the community support,” said Dempsey.

Looking into the future of the Circus Dempsey explained “I’m really excited because next year, 2022 is our 15-year anniversary so we’re already looking into having a big celebration probably in June of 2022.”

The Circus says that for that important anniversary, it hopes to bring over their international partners for the celebration.
