Salida City Council Cancels Work Session; Considers Annexation at Jan. 18 regular meeting

Due to the Martin Luther Ling Jr. holiday, there will be no Council work session this Monday, Jan. 17.

At 6:00 p.m. on Tues. Jan. 18 the Salida City Council will meet in regular session with only a few items on the agenda. Council will consider Resolution 2022-02 to determine if the 141 Annex Annexation is in substantial compliance with city ordinances and state statutes and may then set a public hearing for March 1, 2022.

The annexation was first approved on December 04, 2018 when City Council approved Resolution 2018- 52. The parcels became eligible with the Upchurch Annexation, which was approved by Council on April 20, 2021, and the annexation plat was recorded and effective on July 2, 2021.

An extension was granted to allow the surveyor to compete the plat with a deadline of October 28, 2021. On October 21, 2021 staff received the complete application from Jeff Kriebel, Thomas Clegg and Wendell Winger to annex their properties located at 7543 C.R. 141, 7547 C.R. 141 and 7551 C.R. 141.

City Administrator Drew Nelson will present proposed changes to the City Personnel Manual. These changes had been discussed at a prior work session and come before Council for final approval. Two areas were identified that need attention: Standby Compensation and Paid Holidays. Staff is proposing these changes (along with deleting some antiquated language) to modernize the Manual to 2022 standards as well as match holidays to other governmental agencies in Chaffee County for the convenience of the public.

After Council and Mayor reports, Treasurer Bergin will report on Sales Tax collections remitted from November, 2021.

Rounding out the meeting, Council will consider motions to adjourn to Executive Session to consider two matters:
