Initially, the county planned on hosting a joint meeting on May 12, but due to COVID-19 and “Stay-at-Home” orders, the date of the joint session has been moved back to June 23.

Over the past 10 months, county staff and policymakers, along with their consulting team of Cushing Terrell have gathered citizen comments for the draft of the county’s comprehensive plan.

Monday’s work session also included the 2020 Salida COVID-19 Financial Update, with adjustments looming due to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A Salida Business Emergency Relief Grant program concept was presented with an example of how the program has worked in another local mountain town.

The council also discussed alcohol consumption in City Park, which is a topic of interest to area restaurants whose small spaces might not be able to met social distancing requirements, so this option might allow them to serve customers, who could pay for food and drink and then go to the park to eat.
