The Salida City Council holds its first regular meeting of the month at 6:00 p.m. on Tues., Feb. 7.

Among the items listed on the consent agenda are: approval for a special events permit for the “Monarch Madams”, approval to reduce the Performance Guarantee amount for the Salida RV Resort, transfer of entitlements from the Harriet Alexander Field to the Craig-Moffat Airport, and awarding contracts for the Poncha Boulevard Street Reconstruction Project.

A proclamation declaring February to be Black History Month will also be given.

As presented by Salida Public Works Director David Lady during the Council’s work session on February 6, the 2023 Street Reconstruction Project includes streetscape and utility improvements along Poncha Boulevard from Crestone Avenue to Grant Street, including the addition of bike lanes, a detached sidewalk/multiuse path, intersection improvements, stormwater enhancements, and green space improvements.

Bids from local contractors Y & K Excavating, Avalanche Excavation, and DSI, Inc. have been selected as finalists. Council members may move to accept the staff recommendation and make the award.

In addition, the Council will consider Resolutions 2023-06, amending fee schedules for this year and 2023-07, approving appointments to the Public Art Commission.

A first reading of Ordinance 2023-03, Amending Chapter 16, Article VIII of the Salida Municipal Code, entitled “Design Standards”, would amend Sections 16-8-60, Stormwater Management Standards, and Section 16-8-70, Grading and Erosion Control”,  is scheduled, and if approved, a public hearing date will be set.

As a reminder, City Council Regular Meetings are generally held at 6:00 p.m. on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month. Council Meetings are open to the public and participants may choose to attend in person or virtually.
