At 6 p.m. on September 15, Salida City Council hosts their regular meeting. The agenda has three new action items including Resolution 2020-31 which would establish an intergovernmental agreement for the Chaffee County Multijurisdictional Housing Authority.

Over the past year in partnership with Chaffee County, Poncha Springs and Buena Vista, Salida has been formulating the creation of a Multijurisdictional Housing  Authority, (MJHA) to serve residents of Chaffee County’s workforce. The MJHA would have the ability to do the following under the Colorado Revised Statutes related to workforce and affordable housing: Planning, Financing, Acquisition, Construction, Reconstruction, Management and Operations.

If approved, the MJHA will be a flexible tool to pursue land and projects throughout Chaffee County. The Board of Directors for the MJHA will consist of nine members, three selected by the Chaffee County Board of County Commissioners, and two from each municipality.

The Council will also amend the Civility Invocation and Proclaim the City of Salida a hate-free zone in response to the outcry from the community at the last council meeting relating to the targeted vandalism occurring throughout the city.

Another new agenda item is a discussion surrounding an agreement between the City of Salida and The Chaffee County Community Foundation to provide Coronavirus relief funding to non-profit organizations.

Due to COVID-19 and health regulations, the meeting will be held via GoToMeeting. To preregister for the meeting, click here.
