Salida City Council initiated the project. It directed city staff to fulfill a promise made in the ballot language of the 2B Lodging tax measure, to move forward on an Outdoor Soaking Pools Project at the Salida Hot Springs Aquatics Center.

The goal of the project is to increase community use and potential local lodging stays.

The city requested a contract with  DSI to vet the project and come to a guaranteed maximum price for construction, now set at $1.8 million.

However, city staff is now recommending the council not approve the contract with DSI per the terms of the contract.
