This week’s Monday Salida City Council work session has been canceled and instead becomes the annual Council Retreat, scheduled for Wednesday, April 7. Beginning at 6:00 p.m. on April 6, the regular Salida City Council meeting is slated as usual.

During this meeting, the council will hold the first reading and set a public hearing on ordinance 2021-05 which would annex to the city a tract of land in unincorporated Chaffee County known as the Upchurch Annexation. There will also be the first reading and setting of a public hearing for zoning the Upchurch Annexation as medium density residential (R-2). This annexation is already controversial, with several neighbors on nearby county parcels o.bjecting to the proposed density so near rural, two-acre parcels

Other public hearings scheduled to be part of this session, include a public hearing regarding a location change application from PG Retail I, LLC Nature’s Medicine.

Council will also host a public hearing on the approval of a major impact review for a 1.72 acre parcel of land located west of Holman Avenue, legally known as Lot 2 of the Ambrose Subdivision, which is currently zoned R-2. This ordinance would place a planned development overlay on the property and approve the lot major subdivision for Holman Court.

New business items include a discussion on Community Grants recommendations for the City of Salida Donor Advised Fund and discussion of Ordinance 2021-04 which, if approved, would transfer and convey real property located at the intersection of M Street and West Third Street from the city to the Chaffee Housing Trust. If passed, the ordinance would authorize the execution of certain agreements for said sale and replace and supersede Ordinance 2020-13.
