Starting at 6:00 p.m. on February 1, Salida City Council will host a work session where they will discuss the Colorado Midland and Pacific Railroad Corporation. Council will also receive an update on community grants from the Chaffee County Community Foundation. Also on the agenda is an update on the Highway 50 and Colorado 291 intersection/Oak Street Roadway Planning.
Last, the Council will discuss adding a K-9 unit to the department. For the last two years, the department has been actively working on pairing the right officer and the right canine.
The department says that it has done extensive research and is specifically looking for a K-9 animal that can do Search and Rescue as well as drug interdiction. They were looking for the friendliest, non-aggressive police dog they could find. After a long search, they found “Sarge”.
Due to COVID-19 and current health guidelines, the meeting will be held via GoToMeeting. To preregister, click here.
