As COVID-19 cases rise throughout the country, our state and our county, many prepare for a socially distanced Thanksgiving. In past years, the Salida Community Center has hosted a Thanksgiving meal in person for the community. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and health guidelines, the in-person event could not take place this year, but that did not stop the center.

For those who are unable to prepare their own meals this year, the Salida Community Center in partnership with Collegiate Peaks Bank will host its first-ever drive-thru Thanksgiving dinner.

Though this year will look different, community members can still participate in the traditional feast thanks to the community center. This free event is located at 305 F Street. The center’s volunteers will hand out meals from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on November 26. The hard-working team plans to hand out between six and seven hundred meals.

The center will also deliver meals to those unable to make it to the event. If you or a loved one needs a meal delivered, call 719-539-3351 no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday November 24.
